Africa Community Foundation offers research, training and economic empowerment of local communities in East Africa with the aim of eradicating poverty, and establishing economic sustainability among the local people.
Situation
Wide spread poverty throughout East Africa still exist though billions of dollars of aid has been sent over the last decades. The majority of this has been in relief efforts to meet immediate needs. We are grateful for all of this generosity but long range solutions are still lacking.
Vision
To help eliminate poverty by assisting the local people to get their products to a domestic and international market.
Mission
To identify all the local products, crafts, and other resources that a local community may possess and help create a domestic and international market for such items.
Strategies
-
Conduct research in each local community of their products and resources.
-
To find ways to locally add value to their products
-
To find markets for their products
-
Provide grants and low interest loans to help members of the communities to start their own individual business.
-
To help start schools and other training facilities
